Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between physical activity levels and happiness levels among university students at the National University of Trujillo. A quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 212 students from various degree programs, selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling, who responded to the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and a questionnaire adapted from the IPAQ.

The findings revealed that most students have moderate or high levels of happiness (61.8%) and physical activity (70.8%). A direct positive and significant correlation, although of low magnitude, was found between both levels (ρ = 0.207, p < 0.01 for summary index; ρ = 0.201, p < 0.01 for overall index).

These results support the importance of implementing university policies that promote physical activity as a cross-cutting strategy for student well-being, considering inclusive and gender-equitable approaches. It is concluded that physical activity is related to students' subjective well-being and is essential for strengthening their mental health and academic performance.
