To achieve the global goal of Net Zero by 2050, minerals will be required for renewable energy technologies; Peru is an important mining country, however, in recent years several mining investment projects have been seriously affected due to a lack of political will, obstacles and excess permits imposed by the government, socio-environmental conflicts and others. The objective is to propose a strategy for the promotion of mining investments and the sustainability of the peruvian mining sector; as materials and method, it is based on consolidating the lessons learned executed (1990 to 2023); and as a result, the investment promotion strategy in mining is presented together with the sustainability index of the mining sector (issm) with a valuation of 61% at the end of 2023 (average and decreasing rating), giving rise to conclusions and recommendations to take advantage of the strengths and opportunities of higher international price and demand for minerals that the world will require in the coming years to promote clean and renewable energies, strengthening the promotion of mining investments and the sustainability of the peruvian mining sector, with proactive participation of the state and the stakeholders involved.
