Abstract

The origins of research and science date back to the 6th century BC. C., when the pre-Socratic philosophers of "Antiquity" (later followed by other prominent ones such as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle in the 5th and 4th centuries B.C.) first attempted to discover the guiding principles of the world, which later became would call "metaphysics".

Philosophy has been framed in a Eurocentric vision, which is presented by imposing a modern-colonial model, which consequently led to a bias towards other cultures, thoughts and ideas from other parts of the world. Upon perceiving this, and questioning it, a new philosophical current was formed that sought, through various means, to expand said thought and find ways to decentralize it. Thus, it can be indicated that such problems led to new thoughts based on the task of building one's own thinking (philosophizing), where research and reflection start from within.

This is an essay whose purpose is based on the reflection and analysis of the theoretical foundations that served as the basis for the development of research in various sciences in Greece in the Middle Ages. Likewise, it was possible to see how these foundations that began with ontology and epistemology and continued to develop until today, complementing other concepts.
